No Naked Dreams

It was just about this time last year when I started to write on a blog. Looking back, it appears that I've done some growing and learning and yet, I have far to go it seems.

Last year I felt so unprepared for school and didn't want to even begin to think about the work we had to do to get our students where they should be. This year we've finally turned the corner. It's still hard, but at least there is a lot more comraderie among our staff to work together. I'm not sure how that happened exactly, but it's a great thing.

Having the naked dream before school starts is usually the indication that I'm not ready. All signs point to YES here because I've not had my laptop for weeks now and all of my data and information for my department is on there and I've been recreating some of it.

My summer classes are done, but one of my professors didn't get a final paper so she's asked me to re-send it. That's all fine and well, but it's saved to my laptop.

I would think the naked dream was inevitable, but I didn't have it last night.

With scheduling conflicts between me and my principal with whom I was to do an internship this summer, I have yet to get in all 55 of my hours. They've given me an extension, but that means that while school is in session and my Fall classes start in two days I have several hours to make up in doing administrative work.

Just to round everything out, Richard Cranium has decided to wait too long to pay for Mallory's college tuition leaving us in a bit of quandry and some back-and-forth discussions with the financial aid office. Because at this time, I really needed that.
I'm certain that it's no coicidence, then, that this new nervous habit I have of pushing my tongue on the back of my teeth has prompted my dentist to send me to an orthodontist who wants to put a retainer in my mouth. ME. A retainer! At my age! After having already worn braces for 6 years in high school and college. SIX YEARS.

Then, why am I so calm about starting this school year? And why didn't I have the naked dream?

No laptop, squeezing in extra hours of work, college tuition, and a retainer. I'm guessing it'll be an interesting year to say the least.

Just remember the math:

(Teacher + Students)x Naked = Criminal Record

Sweet dreams!

I whought this was going to be a FUN naked dream. Well, I guess that it is good that you havn't had it. (Your naked dream has GOT to be better than my colleagues dream of having sex with Hugh Hefner...)

I hate naked dreams. Haven't had one in decades and still hoping to never have another. Unless I'm in bed with Katherine Hepburn in private. Johnny Depp could watch since he's my favorite kinky boy ;^)

BTW, is "The paper's saved to my other hard drive" the new version of "The dog ate my homework"? It's so 21st century.

Fie on Richard Cranium and his nonsense. I could send a medium sized cadre of Dykes on Bikes his way. They can be very persuasive.

i still have a week before i start school, and already i'm TERRIFIED. of course, for me, it's my very first day of school ever as a teacher (student teacher), so i'm a bit more nervous than i probably would be if i had more experience. either way, i'm sure i'll be having lots of anxiety dreams over the next week or so...

If I was closer, I would bring you a shiny red apple to set on your desk. Of course, the apple would be hollow and full of apple-tini. So it's probably good I don't do that, since I hear they tend to frown on teachers drinking in school.

Give yourself a big gold star, and learn those kids a thing or two. Good Luck Today!

Hope this is a sign of a wonderful school year to come. Or maybe with all that your mind is processing...it doesn't have time for Naked Dream!

Either way....I wish you a wonderful year!
You'd be my favourite teacher!

Can I please kick Richard Cranium's ass for you? I really want to. I've got pent up frustrations and I think he's the prime target. :)

I think everything will come together just fine. I can feel it. I seem to have quite a lot of ESP moments these days.

*Ponders various smart aleck comments I could make about naked dreams*

*Ponders the ramifications of writing such smart aleck remarks from my work computer*

*Ponders the difficulty of writing my blog after I lose my job and have to move back in with my mom (where, no doubt, I'd have to share a computer)*

*Shivers*

*Wonders if the Mocha family would let me move in with them instead?*

*Decides to wish you a happy first day of school in lieu of smart aleck comments, just to be on the safe side*

No naked dreams? Hmmm.....Do you think that could mean that you know that you are a gift to your students and co-workers and that anything that comes along you will handle??? Do you think??? Or are we all wrong?

August 22, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterCyndi

You gotta go back already? Dang. You just got out! Not helping, am I?

August 22, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterBelinda

Huh. Could be that all that running, bike riding, yoga and such has your body in such a state that being naked is simply not a fear. Now, if you told me you had a dream where margaritas no longer existed...wait, I need a moment...Okay, I had to pause after imagining a world with no margaritas.

See what I am saying? I think there are actually worse things than the naked dream... ;)

hugs,

According to Alfred Nobel, "Hope is nature's veil for hiding truth's nakedness." Maybe a smart person can figure out how that relates to your dream. (I can't.)

(((Kelly))) Can I please go and remove Cranium's finger and toe nails one at a time until he coughs up a big wad of cash for Mallory? Puhlease? I'm in so much pain from the op, and I'm really feeling like I need to claw someone. I'd be happy to claw him for a good reason.... just say the word babe :)

You will have a wonderful year :) I will NOT make a comment about what you SHOULD be doing with your tongue to avoid retainer.

(good girl Yvonne.... now leave the room quietly..... excellent)

The naked dream is a little exposing isn't it? At least it wasn't a naked dream starring Richard Cranium...how disturbed would THAT be? Maybe I shouldn't have gone there... Thought I'd pop over and wish you a great start to the year! You're gonna do great! Ciao!

August 22, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterJeannie

I'm not ready to head back to classes either - granted I get to sit in front of Profs, not be one.
And having some kind of indicator, like a naked dream (though preferably something else), would be nice for me sometimes. Just a heads up that something is going to suck or I forgot something.
Enjoy your last little bit of freedom.

Naked Dreams! HA! I thought this was gonna be a pornographic entry! Doggone it!

Funny how stress can make us feel so exposed.... I guess that you aren't having them (naked dreams)now is a sign that you are handling your stress much better.

Have a great first day of school!

Hugs,
Ron

I hate when I have the naked dream. I then feel embarrassed when I wake up and also kinda freaky all day. I am foreve wondering what it was all about.

[...] When I made fun of myself for having a broken laptop, once again dealing with the fact that my daughter’s biological father (henceforth known as Richard Cranium) HASN’T PAID ME A DIME and reneged on his responsibility to pay for college, and how I’m now wearing a retainer even after spending six years in braces. [...]

I found your site because I also am a teacher and have been pushing my tongue against my teeth since August. By the end of the day, my tongue is so sore and raw, it looks like I could develop cancer. I've tried everything to overcome it: breathing exercises, wearing an old retainer I had 20 years ago after braces, and thinking "relax, relax, relax," but the minute I begin reading, correcting or thinking, I find my tongue pushing again. Have you overcome this yet? What worked?
